MORR Swap Meet Kicks Off Short-Course Off-Road Race Season
-
-
Abrams, WI
(April 14, 2011) - The third annual “88 Miles for Heaven on
Dirt” Swap Meet was the opening event on the MORR calendar. After a long winter, which saw snow on the
ground through the first of April, the Midwest off-road racers
came out in record numbers. The weatherman cooperated with sunny
skies and temperatures in the low 60s, as the parking lot of the
Fly Way Restaurant and Banquet Hall had swappers filling much of
the parking lot. A car show as also on site as several race
vehicles including tractor pullers, late model circle track
cars, and off-road truck competitors were all represented.
Inside the banquet hall, vendors representing, parts
manufacturers, parts distributors, race facilities, and
marketing companies were on hand as well.

-
The afternoon
activities began inside the banquet hall as Mike Reusche from
MT Graphics, Aaron Zentgraf from Safety Solutions, Kris
VanGilder from Innovative Safety Products, and Terry Severson
from TORC, all spent time updating the attendees with the latest
information and news about their organizations.
-
-
Immediately
after the presentations, the MORR Board held a General Meeting
to update everyone with the most current new with the group and
short-course off-road racing. The panel also fielded questions
and listened to the concerns of the membership.
-
-
By late
afternoon, the vendors and swappers began packing up as everyone
began preparing for the May 7, MORR Test Day at Crandon
International Raceway.
-
-
MORR would like
to thank everyone that attended, it was the largest crowd to
date, and we thank everyone that supported our host, The Flyway
Sports Bar & Banquet Hall. The restaurant and bar was packed
much of the day and MORR can’t wait to be back next year.
-
Here are a few
quotes from some of the
-
attendees:

“This is a
great way to get our race season started, and a great way to
bring revenue into the community.” – Don Demeny, Town of

involved with off-road racing over thirty years and have
collected a ton of stuff. Every year I come to the swap meet in
Abrams and go home with a few bucks in my pocket.” – Ron
Karlman, swap meet participant
-
-
“It’s great to
get together before the season starts, find out what’s new in
our sport, whether its information from MORR and TORC, or new
